A Few Advice On Texting Following A First Date

Have you just come back from a first date and are wondering when you should send your date a text message? You may have found this article after spending some time thinking and deciding to look for advice on the subject.

I can offer my advice on this subject, based on my experiences with situations just like yours. I can tell you how long you should wait before sending a text and what you should include in the message. Hopefully, this advice will help you overcome a potentially awkward situation.

Communication via text message is quite a new phenomenon, as it has only been in practice for ten years or so. It’s taken on quite a position of importance since then.

Back in the days before texting, people usually called their dates a day or two after to let them know that they had an enjoyable time. It’s still perfectly acceptable to call if you like, but many people are using the more convenient text message as a way of breaking into that awkward first conversation after a date.

With a new form of communication comes new etiquette, however, and you can drive yourself crazy trying to figure out the proper way to send a text after a date.

The best advice I can give is to send a short text message within 24 hours of the end of the date. The key is to keep the message short; you can even send it the same night if you’d like.

When sending this text, make it a light-hearted one – try making a joke about something that happened on the date. You don’t even have to mention that you had fun, since your date will know just by the fact that you sent the message.

By sending a message after the date, you’ll be starting a new conversation that can be continued at your leisure. You can also use this text conversation to build up to the next phone call.

Call a day or two later and you’ll find it easier to carry on a conversation since you already have some things to talk about from your text messages.
