Is there a difference between a man and a woman knowing how to flirt? Men and women are different and so flirting is going to be different if you are a man or if you are a woman. Men tend to be more direct in their flirting. Women tend to flirt innocently and deliberately keep their flirtations light. Men tend to be heavier with the flirting. But at the same time a woman knows more often when someone is flirting with her than a man does. It probably all goes back to the hardwiring of the brain. But there is a difference and one that you must take into account.

When someone is learning how to flirt, how do you spot the signals in an interested man? When you are learning how to flirt you do have to be aware of your own body language and that of the man’s. Men are different from women in how they flirt and how they respond to flirting. A man may read sexual innuendos into your innocent flirting when all you are interested in is conversation and getting to know him. But there are some signs you can look for. The first sign is if he has turned his body to you and is talking to you. If he keeps turning away from you and speaking to other people while holding a conversation with you, he is not interested. That is your cue to move on. If, however, he is actively engaged in the conversation and is making eye contact…he is interested in what you are presenting and saying. Watch for other subconscious clues such as fiddling with his belt. Yes, this is a sign of sexual interest but it is also a sign of flirting.

I know there is a difference in knowing how to flirt and how to be sleazy but what is the fine line? Knowing how to flirt and being sleazy can sometimes get mixed. You may be giving off the right body language but saying inappropriate canned lines. Pick up lines only work in the movies. Sure, that line may be so old your grandfather and grandmother used it and it may get a laugh but you want the person to think you are being sincere. A sleazy pick up line is not going to do that. Be genuine in your conversation and in your movements. Do not unbutton your shirt down to your navel and expose your body parts. That is crossing into sleaze town. Try to keep the conversation at a simmer rather than boiling over with sexual innuendos. That is how you keep from being sleazy.

How often should a person practice flirting if they are just learning how to flirt successfully? If you want to master the art of flirting you have to do it quite a lot and you have to do it with strangers. You can practice all day and night on someone you know but it is not the same. You need to go into a social situation where you can meet new people. Once there you can use your hints and tips to help you begin flirting. Do not panic if you get rejected a few times. Remember to keep it nice and innocent. You do not want to come across as pushy, desperate, needy or sleazy.

You can probably relate. I know I can. I’ve been there about a billion times. Heck! – I used to be so scared to approach an attractive woman that I’d imagine her steamrolling me, leaving me for road kill in her wake. How cool is that – I’d disqualify myself without even talking to her.

If you don’t know how to pick up women, then doing so will be more difficult than a blind man trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Realize this: We approach women in the wake of their cuteness – and they know it. Without them uttering a single word, they hook us in.

Half the time, even if you find them as sexy as a hemorrhoid , they’ll still think you’re trying to pick up on them.

Watching most men approach an attractive woman is as depressing as a costume ball for demented children. The woman is like a pro fisherman with top notch bait and the guy is like a poor little fish, soon to be chopped up, fried, and eaten for dinner.

Even if he’s a fighter, it’s too late – he’s already on the hook (albeit, if he happens to be her physical type, he’s got a shot at success).

I’m also a fish – but an F-ed up, twisted, alien barracuda. Just when they feel that they have me on their hook I start throwing bait at them.

They start chomping away at the bait and, then, bam – they’re on my hook and I’m reeling them in.

Let’s look at an example. When at a bar, I’ll stand in a high-traffic area – e.g., near the ladies room or entrance to the smoking patio. When a girl walks by I’ll jut out my elbow making it next to impossible for her to avoid bumping into it.

Next, I’ll complain, “Ow… you hurt me.”

Almost always , the woman will put her paw on my shoulder and say, “Oh my… I’m so sorry.”

I’ll tease, “You can touch me but first you need to tell me an interesting story or a funny joke.”

This emotionally hooks the woman into an interaction with you.

Once most guys find a woman attractive – usually within the first few seconds of meeting her – they start thinking of ways to get her approval, win her over, and prove themselves to her.

Put simply, she has them emotionally hooked and she knows it. Just about anything they do to impress her, is a sign she is reeling them in even closer.

In the example I gave you, I did the opposite: Instead of trying to impress her, I made her prove herself to me.

In all sexual interactions, only one person can be the Prize. Two people can’t chase each other at the same time.

With few exception excluded, you want to set the frame that you’re the Prize and the woman is the suitor trying to win you over.
